Dòchas & Michael McGoldrick Band on tour NOW

Born in Manchester to Irish parents, Michael McGoldrick was encouraged by the thriving traditional Irish music scene in the city and by the age of 15, he had already won numerous All-Ireland Championships after swapping bodhran to play flute and whistles.  He came to prominence in  1995 after winning the BBC Radio Two Young Tradition Award. His albums have  taken the traditional and crossover scenes by storm with his maverick style, infused with jazz, hip-hop and Eastern influences.  He has played with Flook!, Lunasa, Afro-Celt Sound System, Kate Rusby and Capercaillie, and was named  Best Instrumentalist at the Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2001.  A live performer of outstanding quality, Michael McGoldrick is one of the most inspiring and exciting traditional musicians at the forefront of crossover music in the UK.  The line up is:-

Michael McGoldrick (flute, whistle, uilleann pipes)
Dezi Donnelly (fiddle)
Donald Shaw (keyboards)
Ed Boyd (guitar)
John Joe Kelly (bodhran)
Ewen Vernal (bass)
James MacKintosh (drums)

Dòchas have taken the traditional music scene by storm.  The five girls, and now one boy, exude professionalism and rare talent throughout their performances.  They play fiddle, accordion, bodhran, pipes, whistles, clàrsach, piano and guitar, complemented by powerful and poignant Gaelic singing.  Since releasing their debut album in 2002, Dòchas have rocketed to success with sell-out shows throughout Scotland, Europe and the United States, thus ensuring further tours in Ireland, Europe and Canada in 2004.  The success of the band led them to win the Best Up and Coming Band at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards in 2004.

MORE ALBUMS TO COME ...

Gaelic waulking group Bannal finished recording an album some time ago, and it looks like we will be able to release this soon on a DualDisc with a normal CD on one side and a DVD documentary made by MacT V which featured Bannal, on the other.  The new Iain MacKay album Creag an Fhraoich should be our next release.  Jenna Cumming has completed her second series of sessions in the studio, and Arthur Cormack goes back into the studio this month to complete his new solo CD.
